Synopsis:
"Wild West Wildwater" is an exclusive documentary about the International Canoe Federation's WILDWATER WORLD CUP 2003 on the Kern River in California's beautiful and rugged southern Sierras.
Wildwater kayaking is like downhill racing. The object is to get to the finish line as fast as possible, but instead of dodging trees and moguls, your dodging waves and rocks in Class IV & V rapids. And the skis become 14' kayaks which are difficult to control and easy to roll.
Wildwater racing has been a popular sport in Europe for many years. Usually the six race event is held on three different rivers in three different
|
European countries. But in 2003, for the first time ever, all six races were held in one place, the USA, on one river, the mighty Kern.
Produced by filmmakers Chuck and Scott Barbee, with original music about kayaking and the Kern River by country & western artist Butch Dubarri, "Wild West Wildwater" is an entertaining look at a world-class sporting event and how it came to the Kern River Valley.
